George Bucur
Working within the Financial Advisory division, George is a Managing Director and co-heads MarshBerry’s specialty practice. Developing solutions for niche focused insurance service firms and markets, George brings to MarshBerry extensive knowledge in strategic planning and merger & acquisition (M&A) activity having completed over 165 transactions.
George is privy to proprietary market perspectives and best practices that are reshaping today’s dynamic operating models. These insights are developed by working with service organizations in and around the insurance industry, such as managing general agents, managing general underwriters, program managers, Lloyd’s coverholders, wholesale brokers, niche retail brokers, administrators, third-party administrators, risk mitigators, carriers and others.
Staying in front of cross-border expansion trends of insurance organizations, George completed an international secondment, collaborating with colleagues in MarshBerry’s European headquarters (Amsterdam) in 2023 and 2024. While working abroad, George spent a significant amount of time in London developing relationships and integrating the acquisition of MarshBerry’s UK office (f/k/a IMAS). This experience translates to a more robust global perspective when advising on strategic alternatives of his market relationships. This includes but is not limited to: i) identifying and communicating developing market dynamics, ii) remaining in front of M&A/valuation trends, and iii) assisting clients with strategic planning alternatives.
After graduating from Miami of Ohio in 2002 with a Bachelor of Accounting and Finance, George started his career with Ernst & Young LLP (E&Y) within their Assurance practice, primarily advising insurance carriers and other financial institutions. While with E&Y, George obtained his Certified Public Accountants (CPA) certification. George then joined MarshBerry in 2012. In 2019, he obtained his Certified Programs Leader (CPL) designation from Target Markets. George currently maintains the FINRA Securities Industry Essentials (SIE®) Exam, in addition to the Series 62, 79 and 63 FINRA Registrations through MarshBerry Capital, LLC., the affiliated FINRA-registered broker-dealer of Marsh, Berry & Co., LLC.
